Vienna’s New Year’s Concert was performed, for the seventh time, under the baton of Italian conductor Riccardo Muti.

Muti is closely associated with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, which he has conducted more than 500 times since his debut in 1971.

This year’s performance marked Muti’s seventh time conducting the prestigious New Year’s Concert, having previously done so in 1993, 1997, 2000, 2004, 2018, and 2021.

He was honoured with the Vienna Philharmonic Ring of Honour in 1992.

It’s long been a philharmonic tradition at the New Year to present a programme consisting of lively, and at the same time nostalgic, music from the vast repertoire of Johann Strauss and his contemporaries.

The 2025 concert program celebrated the 200th anniversary of Strauss’s birth, featuring many of his timeless waltzes and orchestral works.

The 2025 New Year’s Concert was held at the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein, broadcast to over 90 countries, and watched by millions of viewers worldwide.

The concert reaches up to 50 million TV viewers worldwide each year through its broadcast.
