We all know the basics of “safe sex,” but here’s a new one: if you’re parked by a lake, make sure the car’s in park too. Unfortunately, one Russian couple didn’t. Their rocking got the rig rolling, they found themselves in over their heads—literally.
Evgeny Chernov and Yana Kryuchkova, both 22, had driven their Russian-made Niva to a peaceful lake in Russia’s Volgograd region. They parked their SUV by the water, ready to enjoy a scenic spot under the stars. But they left the vehicle in neutral, and that’s where things took a fateful twist. The couple’s passion accidentally set the car rolling toward the lake. Before they realized what was happening, the Niva was sliding down the bank with them inside.
A tragic turn
As chuckle-inducing as the story’s beginning, it had a tragic ending. Neither Chernov or Kryuchkova were able to escape the vehicle.
Investigators reported, “The lovers were shaking the car, and it rolled down to the water.” At first, it seemed like a freak accident, but the evidence painted a clearer picture. According to Andrey Fedotov of the Russian Investigative Committee, the car “was lifted out of the lake, and the bodies…were found on the back seat.”
The investigation uncovered more details: pieces of clothing were tangled in the car’s mechanisms. This chilling discovery suggested that their clothes may have gotten caught, making their escape even more difficult. Amorous moments aside, this serves as a sobering reminder of how important it is to park safely—especially in remote spots.
After the tragic accident, friends and family shared tributes on social media, grieving the couple’s sudden loss. One friend posted, “We will remember you…so young! Rest in peace…You are in our hearts forever.”
