Homes in Texas were evacuated after a propane truck with 3,000 gallons of fuel caught on fire.

While Hank Hill of Texas loves his propane and propane accessories, he knows that danger that propane trucks risk. Roads in Texas are still closed after a truck with 3,000 gallons of fuel rolled over and exploded.

Some people around Hoover’s Valley were told to evacuate their homes and others sheltered in place as a propane truck carrying 3,000 gallons of fuel rolled over.

The truck made a propane delivery in the 2600 block of FM 2324 new Long County Cove then had an accident, closing the road around 9 am.

Drivers were warned to avoid the area because the truck quickly caught on fire. Local police departments and fire departments immediately responded to the scene. They had support from hazmat teams as well.

First responders had to wait at a safe distance from the burning carnage for the turn to burn itself out before being able to investigate the scene and begin clean-up operations. Smoke plumes could be seen for miles.

Hours later, around 2 p.m., Granite Shoals Fire Lieutenant Joshua Nugent shared that the scene was safe, and evacuations were put in place. They had an operational plan to close the incident safely.

According to the Daily Tribune, the fire died down significantly by the late afternoon. This allowed hazmat teams to address the scene. They contacted the truck and checked the air quality to make sure it was safe for firefighters to work the scene.

The driver of the fuel truck was transported to a local hospital. He only had minor injuries and is lucky to be alive.

Police officers haven’t released any information about what caused the truck to flip. Also, it’s unclear if the road has been reopened.
