Sofia Vergara Lost Golden Globe to Jodie Foster: ‘Give Me One!’

While Sofia Vergara lost the Golden Globe for best actress in a limited series or motion picture made for television to Jodie Foster for “True Detective: Night Country,” she took the news lightly with a few laughs.

After Vergara shouted, “No, no!” upon losing the award, Foster responded on stage by saying, “I know, I know.” From the crowd, the “Modern Family” star jokingly yelled, “Give me one!” before Foster began her acceptance speech.

During her speech, Foster said that “the greatest thing about being this age and being in this time, is having a community of all these people. Especially you, Sofia.” Foster also acknowledged her kids and wife Alexandra Hedison, saying: “I love you, and this, of course, is for you. And the love of my life, Alex, thank you forever.”

Vergara was up for her role in “Griselda,” a drama series based on the true story of drug lord Griselda Blanco, marking her fifth nomination and also fifth loss at the Golden Globes. She was previously nominated four times as a supporting actress in “Modern Family.” Meanwhile, Foster’s win for “True Detective: Night Country” marks her fifth overall win during her career, having previously been awarded for “The Accused,” “The Silence of the Lambs” and “The Mauritanian,” including the Cecil B. DeMille Award in 2013.

Foster may have prevailed over Vergara, but she also won over Cate Blanchett for “Disclaimer,” Cristin Milioti for “The Penguin,” Naomi Watts for “Feud Capote vs. the Swans” and Kate Winslet for “The Regime” in the category.
