Ralph Fiennes Is Being ‘Very Demure, Very Mindful’ This New Year’s Eve

Ralph Fiennes is heading into the new year being very mindful and very demure.

Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper, co-hosts of CNN‘s New Year’s Eve Live With Andy Cohen & Anderson Cooper, spoke to Fiennes during the special about viral moments. One in particular was the “very demure, very mindful” trend, which beauty influencer Jools Lebron ignited after saying it in a TikTok video, while showing off her makeup. The hosts then asked Fiennes to re-create the viral moment.

“I showed you the video yesterday. Can you perform this for us?” Cohen asked the Conclave actor, to which he agreed to “try” to give his version of it with a monologue.

“Well look, this is how I do my makeup for work. Very demure, very mindful. I don’t come to work with a green cut crease. I don’t look like a clown when I go to work. I don’t do too much. I’m mindful at work,” he said, in a very calm manner. “See how I look very presentable? The way I came to the interview is the way I go to the job. A lot of you girls go to the interview looking like Marge Simpson, looking like you are going to look like Patty and Selma. Not demure. Not demure. But, I am very modest.”

He continued: “See my shirt? … Be mindful of why they hired you. Here’s a reality check, diva. What’s the name you want me to make it out to?”

All while Fiennes was giving this monologue, Cooper was laughing so much that he nearly fell over. Cohen proceeded to ask him, “Did you like that Anderson?” And Cooper responded: “I liked that very much.”

Earlier in the night, Cohen praised Fiennes’ film Conclave, in which his performance earned him a 2025 Golden Globes nomination for best performance by a male actor in a motion picture – drama.
