Royal Enfield Interceptor 750, price, performance, features, engine, spied

Royal Enfield has been working on a larger 750cc engine for quite some time. Earlier this month, we had covered the Himalayan 750 test mule. This time, the Interceptor 750 has been spotted testing, Here’s a breakdown of all the things the spy-shots reveal.

  1. Gets a dual disc setup at the front
  2. Features the new TFT as the Himalayan 450, Bear 650
  3. Gets all LED lighting

Royal Enfield Interceptor 750 details

The Interceptor 750 has been spotted testing and there are a lot of details we can make out via the video shared on social media, which focuses on the rear three quarters of the test mule. The shots also disclose the presence of the new TFT which first debuted with the Himalayan 450. This TFT supports full screen google maps and Bluetooth connectivity. The TFT display is dubbed as ‘Tripper’ by Royal Enfield. The display is also capable of mirroring the rider’s phone call, messages and music information which can be navigated through a joy-stick which is situated on the left side of the handle-bar.

Mechanically, the Interceptor 750 is expected to receive a bigger engine compared to the earlier 650cc motor. It is reasonable to expect that the bigger engine will bring in a notable bump in peak output. For reference, the 648cc motor makes 47hp and 52.3Nm in four of the five models it powers. Only the Bear 650 (which uses a two-into-one exhaust) makes more torque at 56.5Nm.

Something we had spotted on an Interceptor as well as Continental GT test mule previously is the dual disc braking setup. We had also spotted a similar setup on the Himalayan 750 test mule that will come down the line. While the suspension hardware is of the same kind, with a telescopic fork up front and twin shock absorbers out back, the shocks are using a linear-rate spring in place of the progressive unit seen on the current Interceptor 650.

Aesthetically, the Interceptor 750 has been spotted with a round LED tail lamp and even round LED indicators. We also expect the new Interceptor 750 to feature the same round LED headlight which is offered on the outgoing Interceptor 650.

The outgoing model starts from Rs 3.03 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and when this 750cc Interceptor does launch, we expect it to cost more.
