‘The Grinch’ busted some drug dealers that day.
A raid is a quick affair. Sometimes too quick for a police officer to get into any sort of operational gear. In this case, a crime called for a cop in full “The Grinch” costume to bust down a door and put drug dealers in handcuffs.
Motorcycle police officers and undercover officers joined the Grinch for a holiday drug bust in Lima
Pictures and video show the famed title character of Dr. Seuss’ 1957 classic “How The Grinch Stole Christmas!” leading a raid with police officers from the National Police of Peru. Ok, so maybe it’s not the Jim Carrey in full makeup. It is, however, an officer busting down a door during a drug bust in full costume.
In a video of the raid, the fuzzy green cop takes a rusty sledgehammer up to a wooden door. He takes two swings at the door, the second breaking the barrier and allowing the officers access to the home. While it likely wasn’t funny for the offenders, the video shows the Grinch fumbling to put handcuffs on one of the drug dealers. We imagine it wouldn’t be easy to cuff a suspect with big hairy mitts.
According to the BBC, the raid resulted in three arrests. Officers also seized “small packets of cocaine.” However, they didn’t reveal how much the agency found on the property. Still, imagine the surprise on a drug dealer’s face to see a beloved Dr. Suess character smash in their front door.
Officers then loaded the three offenders into National Police SUVs. The Grinch-clad Peruvian police officer posed for pictures with motorcycle units and the trusty sledgehammer along a Lima street after the drug bust.
Humorously, the BBC called the holiday-themed cop an “undercover police officer.” That’s quite a look. Either way, the National Police of Peru have a bit of a penchant for costume-clad cops. Earlier this year, a police officer dressed as a teddy bear surprised another drug dealer just in time for Valentine’s Day. What’s next? Perhaps a giant bunny on a police motorcycle in a daring Easter raid.
