Police also suspect the driver to have been under the influence.

Police officers could pull anyone over for a traffic stop. This could be a routine thing, or it could be due to some road violation. Either way, trying to evade this encounter never ends well for the driver or anyone else. This happened recently in Ohio, and now the person behind the wheel is facing serious charges, including for driving while under the influence.

Running from a traffic stop is never a good idea

The police traffic stop is one of the best ways officers have to maintain road safety. Sure, they can be scary, as no one wants to learn they’ve somehow broken the law, but these encounters are often necessary. According to Local 12 News, police in Brown County, Ohio, recently tried to pull over a driver after noticing their vehicle going over the center line. Of course, this is a sign of a person who may be driving while under the influence.

Sadly, the driver refused to adhere to the police traffic stop. Instead, they increased their speed, leading the police on a high-speed chase. In fact, the report says the driver reached 100 miles per hour during the pursuit, which put everyone on the road at risk. However, the chase didn’t last long, as the driver lost control of the speeding vehicle and got into an accident.

Following the attempted traffic stop, the officers on the scene learned that the driver had significant enough injuries to warrant being taken to the hospital. However, none were life-threatening. They plan to charge the person with driving while under the influence, possession of an open container, and failure to comply.
