How’s this for a peculiar pair of male co-leads? Deadline reports that Nicholas Hoult and Pete Davidson will join forces to star in David Leitch‘s upcoming “How To Rob A Bank” over at Amazon MGM Studios. And further scoop details that Leitch’s follow-up to last year’s “The Fall Guy” will hit theaters and not be a Prime Video release. Let’s hope for the studio’s sake that this project puts up box numbers more like “Deadpool 2” and “Hobbs & Shaw” than Leitch’s last picture.

Plot details are under wraps, but “Hunters” scribe Mark Bianculli pens the script. It’s safe to expect “How To Rob A Bank” to fall in the same vein as “The Fall Guy” and “Bullet Train“: a breezy (ie: glib) actioner that’s big on thrills and violence and not that interested in thematic depth. Leitch and his partner Kelly McCormick co-produce via their 87 North banner, with Imagine‘s Brian Grazer, Jeb Brody, and Allan Mandelbaum. Bianculli is also on board as an executive producer.
“How To Rob A Bank” may be a return to the likes of “Renfield” for Hoult after a 2024 flush with heavy-hitting dramatic roles in “Juror #2,” “The Order,” and “Nosferatu.” Next up, he’ll don a bald cap as arch-villain Lex Luthor in James Gunn‘s “Superman,” in theaters July 11.
As for Davidson, he matches Leitch’s general vibe as a filmmaker more seamlessly than Hoult. The “SNL” alum has a handful of upcoming roles, including “The Home,” “The Pickup,” and David Michôd‘s “Wizards!” over at A24.
As for a release date for “How To Rob A Bank”? Look for it to hit theaters late next summer, like “Bullet Train” did in August 2022.
