The Hoops hammered the Dons 6-0 the last time out at Hampden but Scales is taking heed of previous Scottish Cup clash
Liam Scales says Celtic are out to finish with a flurry as they close in on their Treble target.
The Parkhead side have been accused of limping over their Premiership finish line after recent defeats to Hibs, Rangers and St Johnstone.
But the Hoops need only a solitary point at Tannadice this weekend to wrap up a fourth successive crown with four games to spare.
Brendan Rodgers’ men have responded to their shock McDiarmid slip to Simo Valakari’s relegation-threatened Saints by rattling in 10 goals in two games – with the most recent of those a five-goal skelping of the Perth men at Hampden which booked a place in next month’s Scottish Cup final.
Now Scales wants his side to use their five remaining league games to go out in style as they look to build some unstoppable momentum ahead of their showpiece showdown with Aberdeen.
Asked if the intention for Rodgers’ men was to go full out until the May 24 clash, the Irishman said: “Yeah, definitely. I think we just hit sort of a bit of a lull. And it happens in the season at certain stages.
“So now that that’s gone and we’ve put it behind us, it’s really important to get up and kick on for the rest of the year because we can make it a really enjoyable four or five weeks.”
The Dons will be fearing a repeat of the six-goal demolition job they suffered when Jimmy Thelin’s team ran into a scintillating Celtic attacking performance in the League Cup semis.
But Scales points to another last-four showdown with the Reds in last year’s Scottish Cup as proof of the dangers involved if his side don’t hit top gear.
Back then, Rodgers’ team scraped past the Pittodrie outfit only on penalties after being held during a 3-3 thriller.
He said: “Obviously, in the League Cup this year, we had a good game against them.
“That’s in our minds. But there’s also that one from last season where it could have gone either way. If we’re not at it, we know what they can do.
“We need to be at our best every week to win games. We definitely don’t want it to go like last year’s Scottish Cup semi. Definitely not. It was a mad game. But that’s just an example.
“Aberdeen are a good side. If we’re not quite 100 percent at it, especially in a Cup final at Hampden when it’s not like we’ve got home advantage, then anything can happen in the Cup.
“We know that. We know we need to be at our best.”
