Kansas man is behind bars after going 122 mph in a 65 mph zone and leading police on a chase

He is facing multiple charges.

There are several reasons police officers could pull a person over for a traffic stop. It could be due to a larger investigation, or it could be the result of a road violation. Sadly, many drivers try to evade these encounters with the police by leading them on a chase. This happened recently in Kansas when an officer tried to pull over a speeding driver.

Trying to evade a traffic stop is never a good idea

According to WIBW, a Jackson County Sheriff was on patrol duty and noticed a car going in and out of the road lines. Additionally, the person was driving 122 miles per hour in a 65 mph zone, which is considered reckless driving. Naturally, the police officer tried to make a traffic stop, but the man behind the wheel refused to pull over. Of course, this led to a police chase. This happened close to 10 pm on December 27th.

The police officer continued trying to make the traffic stop. However, the driver eventually turned off his lights as a way to blend in with the fog. They continued searching, and it helped that the initial police officer had gotten the driver’s license plate number and the type of vehicle. Then, they were able to find the man around 12:30 am.

Following the traffic stop, the police on the scene placed the driver, Matthew William Adams, 39, into handcuffs. They took him to the Jackson County Jail, and the police are charging him with fleeing and eluding law enforcement, reckless driving, and various traffic offenses.
