Thelin has recruited compatriot Erik Edman as he bolsters the recruitment department at Pittodrie ahead of the summer window
Jimmy Thelin is set to add Erik Edman to his Aberdeen scouting team.
The former Swedish international is set to leave his current role at Hittarps IK in the summer to take up his new role at Pittodrie.
Edman will work under Aberdeen’s current head of recruitment Nuno de Almeida.
De Almeida and Thelin both know the former Tottenham Hotspur defender well from their time in Sweden.
Edman’s current manager Fredrik Dupont confirmed: “It’s a great opportunity for Erik that we’re not standing in his way.
“We’ve known that there was interest in him before.
“It is intended that he will continue working (for us) as long as possible, that is what we have said, but this is a great opportunity for Erik.”
Edman had top playing career, making 57 appearances for his country and played for Spurs, Wigan, Torino and Rennes before he had to retire in 2009 with a knee issue.
Thelin also still has to decide whether he will bring in a new assistant coach.
Emir Bajrami quit for family reasons and has now returned to former club Elfsborg.
