Jessica Capshaw has her eyes set on another hit show following her time on Grey’s Anatomy.
The actress, who played Dr. Arizona Robbins on the long-running medical drama for 10 seasons, recently shared on her and Camilla Luddington’s Call It What It Is podcast that she auditioned for season three of The White Lotus, however, Leslie Bibb ultimately landed the role.
“I auditioned for Leslie Bibb’s part, and I remember getting to the audition and being like — I mean, I’m just such a huge fan of the show, so I was giddy with excitement,” she said about auditioning for the role of Kate.
Capshaw continued, “It’s always so fun to put together an audition and see where it goes, and then see it come to fruition. Because what’s unbelievably remarkable and wild about the casting process — and I guess not shocking — is we’re all very different, we all have a very different take on it.”
She went on to praise Bibb for her performance as one-third of the girl trio, which included Carrie Coon’s Laurie and Michelle Monaghan’s Jaclyn, taking a vacation at The White Lotus in Thailand this season. “Watching Leslie, I was like, ‘Oh my god.’ I was so in, and I thought she was fantastic,” Capshaw added.
Though the actress did land a part in season three of Mike’s White’s hit HBO show, she has no plans to stop auditioning, as she noted it took multiple attempts before she scored her role on Grey’s Anatomy in 2009.
“I’ll audition, I’ll keep auditioning. That’s what I did for Grey’s,” Capshaw said. “I loved Grey’s Anatomy and I was like, ‘I’ll audition all the times!’ And I took three times, so I’m hoping it’ll just take two for Mike White and The White Lotus. I’ll just keep going.”
