This chase ended with a crash.
The decision to try and evade a traffic stop is never a good one. Not only does it make things worse for the driver, but it also poses a risk to public safety by causing a ton of car wrecks each year. Recently, police officers arrested two people in Indiana after a high-speed chase and a search of the vehicle. Now, they’re facing serious charges, including for drug possession.
Not only did the driver evade a traffic stop, but he could have caused car wrecks
According to Fox 59, a police officer in Morgan County, Indiana, was on patrol duty when he noticed a vehicle commit a road violation before 4 am on December 27th. The report says the driver then turned off their lights, causing the police officer to begin following the car. They then turned the lights back on, and the police tried to pull them over for a traffic stop, but the driver sped off.
Of course, the officer on the scene continued trying to make the traffic stop. However, the person behind the wheel went through multiple streets and even a yard. Additionally, the driver and the passenger are said to have thrown items from the car during the high-speed chase. Naturally, other officers deployed stop sticks in the path the vehicle was heading.
Eventually, they were able to conduct the traffic stop. Specifically, the driver tried avoiding a stop stick and then crashed over a median. This caused the Toyota they were in to become undriveable. They then took the two people into custody. Upon searching the car, police found a stolen gun, 58 grams of meth, marijuana, scales, needles, etc. Police took both people to the Morgan County Jail, and they’re facing felony and misdemeanor charges. It also turns out the driver had a suspended license. Luckily, they didn’t cause any wrecks with other cars on the road.
