Booking Holdings said in its latest sustainability report that its greenhouse gas emissions fell in 2024.

The company also announced it will scrap a key target: It will no longer aim to have over 50% of bookings from sustainable accommodation offerings by 2027. It blamed regulations for the shift.

Here are some key takeaways from the report:

1. Greenhouse Gas Emissions Decline

Booking Holdings claims emissions across the company fell in 2024, especially those tied to its own operations like electricity and heating in its offices.

While these emissions only make up about 1% of the company’s total footprint, they’re more than 85% lower than in 2019, largely due to the use of more renewable electricity and other initiatives, such as the installation of solar panels at its Bengaluru office.

The bigger chunk of emissions, the remaining 99%, also fell in 2024. These include the company’s Scope 3 emissions and they cover all indirect emissions, such as from the production and transport of goods and services used by the company.

These supply-chain emissions fell from 652,316 tonnes of CO2 to 544,606
