The upcoming awards season is getting a slight tweak via the Golden Globes.
The organization announced in tandem with CBS that its 83rd annual Golden Globe Awards will air Sunday, January 11, 2026 (8:00-11:00 PM, live ET/5:00-8:00 PM, live PT) on the CBS Television Network.
Often described as the first major award show of the season, the Golden Globes are usually scheduled for the first weekend in January as a kickoff to awards campaigning in the new year. With the move forward by one week, the awards ceremony is opening the door to more awards events being pushed back a tiny bit, especially since the 2026 Oscars are scheduled for March 15 — a whole two weeks later on the calendar compared to the 2025 Oscars date.
One could argue the date of the Golden Globes moving offers a bit of a reprieve for the talent having to traverse a long awards season, allowing everyone involved to possibly extend their holiday break (this is a process that starts at the beginning of September, after all.)
The Golden Globes, which refers to itself as “Hollywood’s Party of the Year,” will once again be hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser after her first go around brought in a ratings bump for the telecast. The event makes the effort to be the largest awards show in the world to celebrate the best of both film and television. Dick Clark Productions will once again plan, host and produce the annual Golden Globes, which has been viewed in more than 185 countries and territories worldwide.
The Golden Globes 2026 will also have a streaming option in the U.S., with Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers specifically having access to stream live via the live feed of their local CBS affiliate on the service, as well as on demand. Paramount+ Essential subscribers will not have the option to stream live but will have access to the telecast on-demand the day after the special airs.
The Golden Globes 2026 nominations are already set to be announced on Monday, December 8, 2025. A full timeline for the awards will be announced soon.
