Ford Maverick recall due to faulty child seat anchors
Ford has issued a recall for the Ford Maverick due to six models potentially being equipped with faulty child seat anchors.
While this problem impacts a small amount of trucks, drivers should seek immediate repairs as it could put their small children at risk.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a supplier facility may have improperly installed second-row child seat tether anchors.
As a result, the anchors may not correctly secure a child seat during a wreck. This increases the risk of accidents and injuries.
Ford claims that the supplier, Flex-N-Gate’s Mexican division, used an unauthorized rework on a small number of trucks, so the tether anchors may not have been properly threaded.
The issue only relates to Maverick trucks assembled on August 28, 2024. They were manufactured at the Hermosillo Assembly Plant in Mexico.
Flex-N-Gate is an American company that specializes in supplying parts and systems for the automotive industry. Parts include plastics, metals, lighting, and mechanical assemblies.
Ford began investigating this issue in early September and isn’t aware of any accidents or injuries related to the problem.
You will need to take your Ford Maverick to a local dealership for a free repair. Technicians will use a heli-coil process to provide full thread engagement.
Ford Motor Company will begin mailing notices to owners at risk on December 2, 2024. The Ford reference number for this recall is 24C33.
