Owning a Bugatti has its perks, including being able to get bespoke parts made for your hypercar

- A Chiron owner asked for a cupholder after she spilled some Red Bull in her hypercar.
- Bugatti promptly came up with a solution that slides neatly into the driver’s side door pocket.
- The custom-made cupholder can hold a large water bottle and a can of Red Bull.
The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport is one of the most remarkable performance cars ever designed and is the only production car to top the fabled 300 mph (483 km/h) mark. It also has a seven-figure price tag so high it makes billionaires sweat. It’s a pinnacle of automotive engineering, a masterpiece of speed, luxury, and excess. You get the idea. But there’s just one tiny problem with this French rocket ship: it can’t hold your Big Gulp. Well, Bugatti finally decided to tackle this first-world crisis.
Last week, the owner of a flamboyant white Chiron Super Sport with bright pink accents posted a video on social media asking Bugatti director of design Frank Heyl to create a cupholder for her French hypercar as a “Christmas wish”. The call-out came after she spilled an entire can of Red Bull in the driver’s side door pocket.

A few days later, Frank Heyl responded with an Instagram video that could be subtitled, “Fine, Here’s Your Silly Cupholder.” But as it turns out, retrofitting a Chiron for drink storage isn’t as simple as sticking a $5 plastic insert into the transmission tunnel. Redesigning that area to accommodate a drink simply wouldn’t be practical. Bugatti’s solution? A dual cupholder that neatly clips into the door pocket.
It includes one holder ideally suited to large water bottles, while the second slot is the same size as a can of Red Bull. Hoyl says that if the owner of the white and pink Chiron, Shannon Ralston, is happy with the design, Bugatti can mock up a 3D-printed prototype for her and send it out at the start of January.
How Much Does a Fancy Clip-On Cost?
No one knows yet how much this fancy little cupholder might cost or whether Bugatti plans to offer it to other Chiron owners. Given how much Chiron buyers love exclusivity, they might not even want it if everyone else can have one too. Still, this could nudge Bugatti to finally include a cupholder in its next hypercar, the V16-powered Tourbillon.
That said, the Tourbillon would require a completely different solution. Unlike the Chiron, it doesn’t have regular door pockets; instead, it features two small storage compartments tucked behind leather-covered flaps. So unless Bugatti can perform storage miracles, you’re probably looking at another bespoke “engineering marvel” just to keep a can of Red Bull in place.
