If launched in India, Benelli Leoncino Bobber 400 will be positioned below Leoncino 500 and above Keeway V302C within QJ’s portfolio

QJ Motor and its subsidiary brands including Benelli and Keeway are not known to be pushing significant volumes in India. However, they have quite a few motorcycles in global markets like China we hope we get in India. The just debuted Benelli Leoncino 400 Bobber is definitely one of those motorcycles.

Currently, Harley-Davidson is known for a V-Twin engines and belt-drivetrains in one package. That said, QJ offers a similar formula with two of its motorcycles sold under Keeway brand. These motorcycles are called Keeway K-Light 250V and Keeway V302C. Both bikes get a V-Twin and belt-drive.

Extending the formula, we now have a larger motorcycle with V-Twin and belt drive, but under Benelli brand, this time around. Called Benelli Leoncino Bobber 400 and it is positioned under the Leoncino 500 which is powered by a parallel-twin engine. While Leoncino 500 is a neo-retro cruiser, Leoncino Bobber 400 is a Bobber, as the name suggests.

Benelli Leoncino Bobber 400 is not confirmed to launch in India, but we wish it does. This motorcycle bears handsome looks that could potentially attract a lot of buyers and boost sales for the brand. Currently, Benelli portfolio starts with Leoncino 500 at the lower end that costs Rs 4.99 lakh (Ex-sh).

A more affordable model in the lineup might prove beneficial for the brand and Benelli Leoncino Bobber 400 could be that product. We say affordable because the performance ceiling from this motorcycle is just 25 bhp of peak power and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. However, what stands out is the low 180 kg kerb weight, a low 730 mm seat height and a vibe-free belt drive.

Handsome Looks

Where design is concerned, there is a lot to like on Benelli Leoncino Bobber 400. It takes design inspirations from American cruisers, just like the powertrain and drivetrain layouts. We can see a blacked out theme for stealthiness and contrasting paint job can be seen on body panels like fuel tank, side panels, rear seat cowl and front fender.

There is a horizontal pill-shaped LED headlight and the top half of this pill shape acts as a LED DRL. We can see Leoncino branding here. There is a pillion seat accessory too. There are two types of bar-end mirror options seen on this motorcycle and both lend a unique look. There’s a dual barrel exhaust, both coming out from right side.

Alloy wheels get a gloss black finish and wrapped with chunky rubber. The motorcycle is suspended on USD telescopic front forks and twin shockers at the rear. Braking setup consists of a single disc at both ends. Instrumentation is handled by a circular TFT screen.
