Bayern Munich star shoves ball boy in hot-tempered Champions League defeat and risks UEFA wrath

The sides played out an epic 90 minutes in the second leg of their quarter final showdown with Inter emerging as 4-3 winners on aggregate

Bayern Munich star Josip Stanisic could find himself in hot water with UEFA after knocking a ball boy to the ground in their Champions League quarter final defeat to Inter.

The Bundesliga side had trailed 2-1 from the first leg in Bavaria last week going into the return fixture at San Siro but took the lead on the night shortly after half-time through England skipper Harry Kane.

However, a quickfire double from Lautaro Martinez and former Bayern defender Benjamin Pavard put the Italian’s back in the driving seat, and although Eric Dier levelled things up late on, the Serie A title leader’s held on to progress to the semi finals 4-3 on aggregate.

And in their desperate attempts to force home a goal to take the tie to extra time, Croatia international Stanisic was captured pushing a ball boy over after he had attempted to waste time.

As the full back moved towards the ball boy to pick up the ball to take a throw in, the youngster rolled the ball away in the opposite directon.

And Stanisic, 25, reacted by letting his frustrations get the better of him, using two hands to send the ball boy crashing off his stool and onto the turf.

But the Bayern star fortunately escaped any immediate punishment following the incident, with the officials seemingly failing to spot the shove.

Bayern’s bid to win a seventh European Cup – and their first Euro title since 2013 – will now have to wait another year.

However, Vincent Kompany’s team are on course to clinch the Bundesliga championship after missing out to Xabi Alonso’s scintillating Bayer Leverkusen side last season.

The Bavarian giants currently sit points clear of their rivals with just five games remaining.

Inter on the other hand have now breathed life into their quest for a treble.

Simone Inzaghi’s men are in the driving seat in Serie A and hold a three point lead over nearest challengers Napoli with six games to play.

The Nerazurri will face off against Barcelona in the semi-finals of the Champions League and could also win the Coppa Italia.

They will rematch city rivals Milan next week in the second leg of the semi-final, with the scores level at 1-1.

The victor of that tie will then face the winner of Bologna and Empoli in the final, with the former 3-0 up from the first leg.
