This Is the Best Beach in Asia According to Trip Advisor

  • Banana Beach was recently named the best beach in Asia in TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Awards.
  • It’s just a 15-minute boat ride from Phuket, Thailand.
  • The beach offers a variety of things to do, from snorkeling in colorful coral reefs to sunbathing on lounge chairs.

From Malaysia and Thailand to Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia, Asia—and Southeast Asia, in particular—is filled with incredible beaches known for their pristine white sand and clear blue waters. Many of them are so secluded, they almost feel like private islands.

TripAdvisor, an online travel agency and price comparison website, recently released its “Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best 2025” lists. In its annual Travelers’ Choice Awards, it singles out destinations that got a high volume of “above-and-beyond reviews and opinions” over the past year—according to the company, less than one percent of listings get the honor.

And though there are thousands of popular beaches you could visit on your next trip, it combed through its review data to find the absolute best in Asia and No. 2 in the world: Thailand’s Banana Beach. (Thailand was named Travel + Leisure‘s 2025 Destination of the Year.)

Located on Koh Hey (or Coral Island), Banana Beach attracts travelers who want a good balance of activity and relaxation. You can go diving or snorkeling around lively coral reefs, parasail or kayak, enjoy a beach massage, or simply lounge on a deckchair or sun bed. Most travelers arrange a 15-minute boat ride or tour (many include a buffet lunch) from nearby Phuket.

Even though it’s a top tourist attraction—some reviewers say it’s pretty busy during the high season, which falls between November and April—Banana Beach is still a must-visit destination with its stunning natural beauty and wide range of things to do.

“Banana Beach in Thailand is a hidden gem!” said one reviewer. “The water is crystal clear, and the beach is super peaceful—perfect for relaxing or snorkeling. It feels like a little slice of paradise, away from the crowds. Definitely worth the boat ride to get there.”

But, if you can’t make it to Thailand, there are plenty of other traveler-favorite beaches around Asia that you can visit. Kelingking Beach in Nusa Penida, Indonesia; Haeundae Beach in Busan, South Korea; White Beach on Panay Island, Philippines; and Radhanagar Beach on Havelock Island, India, rounded out the top five.
