As a travel writer, budgeting for trips takes priority over purchasing a home, but I still dream of never having to rent another apartment. Amazon has presented an alternative to hiring brokers, paying closing and escrow fees, and all the other costs associated with traditional homeownership: expandable tiny houses. Not only are they more affordable, but they can be customized, which is crucial for storing all of my travel accessories and more.
Recently, I spotted this cozy tiny home in Amazon’s tiny house kits storefront. It can be built with up to three bedrooms, solar panels, has a large front porch, plus a sliding glass door and several windows to fill the space with natural light. At only $32,000, it’s a steal in comparison to a traditional home.
Expandable Prefabricated Home with Front Porch
Amazon
Inspired by luxurious beach villas, the home has a crisp white exterior (that can be painted), natural light-filling wraparound windows, and a spacious front deck. It can be built up to 800 square feet — larger than lots of New York City apartments — and can include three bedrooms, a kitchen, a living area, and a full-size bathroom. That doesn’t even include the front porch that’s big enough to fit a chair (or two) so you can sit and watch the sunset.Â
The most standout feature of this model, though, is the energy efficiency. Not only can the tiny home be built with solar panels, but it has LED lights throughout (which use less energy than traditional incandescent lighting), resulting in lower energy bills.Â

The manufacturer, Stabiluxe Mobile Home, also gives you the power to design the tiny house. You can choose to add three small bedrooms to use for a main, guest room, and home office, or you can have one bedroom and use the rest of the space for a larger living room, kitchen, and dining area. All you need to do is WhatsApp the seller to make your customizations before purchasing.

You’ll barely need a toolbox too, according to a representative from Stabiluxe. The house can arrive practically move-in ready. Everything from insulation, outlets, windows, doors, and plumbing are built beforehand. And, if you want to make the tiny house even more unique, you can choose the exterior color and type of flooring you want for no extra charge.
Not all the customizations are free though, there are some personalization options that come at an additional cost, like if you want a sofa, water heater, refrigerator, oven, or bed included. On the plus side, paying for the move-in ready upgrades will save you lots of time doing it yourself.Â
