Graham Norton has entered the Tardis.
The iconic comedian and host of “The Graham Norton Show” will guest star on an upcoming episode of “Doctor Who,” the BBC revealed on Friday. What’s more, his appearance centers around the Interstellar Song Contest — a galactic version of Eurovision, the global singing competition Norton has provided commentary for since 2009.
Norton’s feature will be in the sixth episode of the season, which follows Ncuti Gatwa’s 15th Doctor and his new companion Belinda Chandra (Varada Sethu) as they find themselves at the Interstellar Song Contest, where planets from all over the universe compete for the top prize.
The episode will also feature guests including “Slow Horses” actor Freddie Fox, former “The X Factor” contestant and broadcaster Rylan, “Fleabag’s” Kadiff Kirwan, “Coronation Street” star Charlie Condou and “& Juliet” breakout Miriam Teak-Lee.
“There’s no song contest without the great man himself, and it was an honor to welcome Graham Norton to our studios in Cardiff,” showrunner Russell T Davies said in a statement. “And it’s not just a cameo, he has a whole plot twist all to himself! This is the wildest episode of all, and we’re lucky to have Graham adding to the mayhem.”
“The Interstellar Song Contest” episode of “Doctor Who” will air May 17 on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the U.K., and on Disney+ globally.
The new season of Ncuti Gatwa’s iteration of “Doctor Who” premieres on April 12. “Doctor Who” is produced by Bad Wolf with BBC Studios for the BBC and Disney Branded Television.
