Mitsubishi buying back some of its shares from Nissan shows the company has hope.
Nowadays, most people looking for the best cars to buy don’t consider Mitsubishi vehicles. However, the company is hoping this may change. It seems the company’s suits are laying the groundwork for a change in public perception. This starts with the recent move to buy back some of its shares from Nissan, which has also struggled with selling its vehicles. Additionally, there may be a sports car in Mitsubishi’s future.
Mitsubishi vehicles could join the ranks as some of the best cars to buy
Let’s be honest. Many drivers don’t know that Mitsubishi still sells vehicles, especially stateside. In most people’s minds, the company’s glory days are long gone, as it focuses on bland SUVs. However, the company has an improvement plan. According to the automaker, it recently bought back 10% of the shares that Nissan owned, which shows that the leadership at Mitsubishi still believes in the brand.
Of course, Mitsubishi buying back some of its shares isn’t particularly exciting news given the state of its vehicles. Notably, the company introduced its 2030 plan this year, which gives it a path forward for automotive success. This plan includes introducing a range of EVs and gas-powered cars and releasing a new or refreshed model each year from 2026 until 2030. It also hopes to expand to new markets.
Additionally, there are also rumors that Mitsubishi could bring back one of its best sports cars, the 3000 GT. While Mitsubishi hasn’t commented on this, vehicles like this may be what the automaker needs to spice things up. Currently, Mitsubishi fades into the background, which doesn’t work when most automakers struggle to sell vehicles.
Notably, regardless of Nissan selling some of its Mitsubishi shares, the companies still plan to collaborate on vehicles in the future. Let’s hope this all leads to something more exciting than the Mitsubishi Outlander.
