‘Thunderbolts’ Brings Special Look to D23 Brazil

Thunderbolts stars Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan and David Harbour are getting in on all the action in a special look at Marvel‘s upcoming film.

On Saturday, Harbour attended the Brazil D23 fan event to present the extended trailer (below) for the film, which follows a group of supervillains recruited to go on missions for the government. “Everyone here has done bad things. Shadow ops, contract kills,” Pugh says in the trailer at one point.

The team of villains and antiheroes includes Pugh, who reprises her Black Widow role of Yelena Belova, Harbour as Red Guardian, Stan as the Winter Soldier, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S. Agent and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. Lewis Pullman plays an unknown character named Bob.

“We are just drifting. And we don’t have purpose. You can’t escape the past,” Pugh says in the action-packed footage as Stan adds, “So you can either do something about it now or live with it forever.”

Jake Schreier directed Thunderbolts, with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige producing. Louis D’Esposito, Brian Chapek, Jason Tamez and Scarlett Johansson served as executive producers. The movie is based on Kurt Busiek’s comic series of the same name.

The film also faced delays due to the writers and actors strikes last year, with production starting after the Los Angeles labor actions. Geraldine Viswanathan also ended up replacing Ayo Edebiri and Pullman replaced Steven Yeun due to scheduling conflicts.

Thunderbolts is set to hit theaters on May 2, 2025.
