How’s this for a huge news story before the weekend commences? Deadline reports that Christopher Nolan has added two more A-List names to the cast list of his upcoming blockbuster at Universal. And it’s two intriguing names joining Matt Damon and Tom Holland. The first? Anne Hathaway, who worked with Nolan twice on “The Dark Knight Rises” and “Interstellar.” The other? None other than Zendaya, Holland’s longtime partner.

That’s a formidable foursome to lead Nolan’s next pic, although it remains unclear what his next event film is about. Deadline says that sources tell them that every logline that’s hit the press so far is wrong, and Universal wants to keep details secret for as long as possible. But with these new castings, the studio won’t be able to keep things under wraps forever, especially if Nolan starts shooting in early 2025 like he plans to.
Universal currently has the film slated for a theatrical release (including IMAX) on July 17, 2026. That’s a week before Holland also appears in the much-anticipated “Spider-Man 4,” on July 24, 2026; a big summer for the actor. However, it’s unclear what Damon, Hathaway, and Zendaya will have on their 2026 calendars. Damon is busy with various Artists Equity projects and producing other things in the short-term future. Hathaway meanwhile is set to star in Warner Bros.‘ “Flowervale Station,” while Zendaya has “Euphoria” Season 3, “The Drama” with Robert Pattinson at A24, and (eventually) “Dune: Part 3.”
So what other talent will join Nolan’s next film before shooting gets underway early next year? After “Oppenheimer” won big at the Oscars this year, expect Nolan to handpick whomever he pleases. Still, it’s nice to see him reunite with Hathaway after a decade, and Holland and Zendaya sharing the screen in a non-“Spider-Man” project should be intriguing.
Again, Nolan’s latest hits theaters on July 17, 2026. Stay tuned for more details.
