Stellantis Signs Semiconductor Deal for BEVs with Germany’s Infineon

In a bid to secure vital technology supply lines, Stellantis enters a new collaboration with German semiconductor manufacturer Infineon Technologies.

The companies sign supply and capacity reservations for Infineon’s PROFET power switches and silicon carbide (SiC) CoolSiC semiconductors for Stellantis’ battery-electric vehicles.

The smart power switches will replace traditional fuses, allowing the carmaker to reduce wiring and implement intelligent power network management.

SiC semiconductors will support Stellantis in its efforts to standardize its power modules, and improve the performance and efficiency of BEVs while also reducing costs.

Also, AURIX microcontrollers will target the first generation of the Stellantis STLA Brain zonal architecture.

The companies also expect to create a Joint Power Lab to define the next generation of scalable and intelligent power architecture enabling the automaker’s plans for software-defined vehicles.

Maxime Picat, Stellantis chief purchasing and supplier quality officer, says: “As outlined in our strategic plan, Dare Forward 2030, we are securing the supply of crucial semiconductor solutions required to continue our transition to an electrified future leveraging innovative E/E architectures for our next-generation platforms.”
