“The Night Agent” doesn’t follow your average highly talented government agent on highly dangerous missions, like Ethan Hunt in “Mission Impossible” or James Bond in his numerous risky ventures. The lead protagonist, Peter Sutherland, is actually quite normal. Something that drew series creator Shawn Ryan to the project in the first place. As he previously described to The Hollywood Reporter.

“I love the idea of an underdog. I love to watch kickass stuff as much as everyone else. But to me, it’s not as interesting to write the indestructible guy, the John Wicks of the world, the Jason Bournes that can take on 20 people at once. I like the idea of an underdog, someone who is the least important person in a very important place, in this case, a low-level FBI agent who works in a windowless room in the basement of the White House.”
The premise clearly resonates with fans as well. The first season was the second most-watched original streaming series in the US in 2023. Season 2 will, without a doubt, surely be a hit.
The series stars Gabriel Basso, Luciane Buchanan, Fola Evans-Akingbola, Sarah Desjardins, Amanda Warren, Berto Colon, Louis Herthum, Arienne Mandi, Michael Malarkey, and Keon Alexander. Shawn Ryan is the creator and writer. Other writers include Imogen Browder, Corey Deshon, Seth Fisher, Munis Rashid, Tiffany Shaw Ho, and Rachel Wolf. The directors are Adam Arkin, Guy Ferland, Gordon, Ramaa Mosley, and Millicent Shelton.
