'The Night Agent' Season 2 Trailer: Peter Trusts No One

‘The Night Agent’ Season 2 Trailer: Peter Trusts No One

Viewers of the Ravens vs. Texans NFL game got a surprise on Christmas Day: A trailer for Netflix‘s “The Night Agent” Season 2.

Gone are the tedious days of Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) sitting next to a dormant phone in the White House basement — and nigh is the day for Night Action now that he’s finally part of the ultra-confidential organization. After successfully saving the President of the United States in Season 1, Peter was tasked with investigating a leak in the C.I.A., but in the Season 2 trailer, his operation appears to have been compromised, and Peter trusts no one — not even Rose (Luciane Buchanan), and certainly not Night Action itself. Season 2 will pick up shortly after Season 1 and is based on the novel by Matthew Quirk.

“To see the tremendous reaction to the show has been a great joy and is a credit to our cast, our writers, our directors, our crew and our partners at Sony Pictures Television and Netflix,” creator and showrunner Shawn Ryan said when “The Night Agent” was initially renewed. “We couldn’t be any prouder or more excited to get cracking on Season 2 to share the further adventures of Night Action with our newfound fans.”

In addition to Basso and Buchanon, Season 2 stars Amanda Warren as a Night Action veteran who monitors new agents, as well as the following, per Tudum: Arienne Mandi (“Tatami”) as Noor, a low-level aide in the Iranian mission to the United Nations in New York looking to leverage her access to top secret information into a better life for her and her family; Louis Herthum (“Westworld”) is Jacob Monroe, an international businessman with powerful global connections that he uses to obtain valuable information; Berto Colon (“Power Book II: Ghost,” “Orange Is the New Black”) will play Solomon, a former Marine turned right-hand man/fixer for a powerful businessman; Michael Malarkey (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Project Blue Book”) as Markus, a trained military leader loyal to his dictator uncle who was recently convicted in the Hague of war crimes; and Keon Alexander (“The Expanse,” “Tyrant”) as Javad, the head of security for the Iranian mission to the United Nations who is responsible for not only protecting the mission employees, but also ensuring they stay loyal to the regime.”

“The Night Agent” was the most-watched Netflix series of 2023, reaching the Top 10 in 93 countries, and earned a Season 3 renewal earlier in December, ahead of the Season 2 premiere. Series regulars David Lyons, Jennifer Morrison, Stephen Moyer, Genesis Rodriguez, and Callum Vinson are already on board (along with Basso, of course) for Season 3, with Suraj Sharma set to join the cast.

“The Night Agent” Season 2 premieres January 23 on Netflix. Watch the full trailer below.
