Crunchyroll has shared the official Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 poster for the highly-anticipated next installment of the popular fantasy anime show. The poster continues to hype up the introduction of Captain Gen Narumi of the First Division, who’s one of the fan-favorites from the original manga series by Naoya Matsumoto.
“In a world plagued by creatures known as Kaiju, Kafka Hibino aspired to enlist in The Defense Force. He makes a promise to enlist with his childhood friend, Mina Ashiro. Soon, life takes them in separate ways. While employed cleaning up after Kaiju battles, Kafka meets Reno Ichikawa. Reno’s determination to join The Defense Force reawakens Kafka’s promise to join Mina and protect humanity,” reads the synopsis.
When is the Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 release date?
Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 is scheduled to make its debut in July 2025 on Crunchyroll. Prior to the Season 2 premiere, Toho Animation will release a compilation movie of Season 1 on March 28, 2025, in Japanese theaters. In addition to the compilation movie, the studio has also announced the upcoming release of a special episode titled “Hoshina’s Day Off,” which will also premiere on March 28.
The anime is directed by Shigeyuki Miya and Tomomi Kamiya from a screenplay written by Ichiro Okouchi. It hails from Production I.G and Studio Khara, with the latter supervising the show’s kaiju artwork and design. It features the voices of Masaya Fukunishi as Kafka Hibino/Kaiju No. 8, Asami Seto as Mina Ashiro, Wataru Katoh as Reno Ichikawa, Fairouz Ai as Kikoru Shinomiya, Kengo Kawanishi as Soshiro Hoshina, Yuki Shin as Iharu Furuhashi, Keisuke Komoto as Haruichi Izumo, and Shunsuke Takeuchi as Aoi Kaguragi.
