Dune: Prophecy’s ending unveils the current standings of central characters as the story heads to another grand installment. The last episode, titled “The High-Handed Enemy,” shows Tula grappling with her identity. Meanwhile, Valya’s strategic schemes bring her face-to-face with her nemesis, Desmond Hart.
So, here’s the ending explained for Dune: Prophecy finale.
What Happens to Valya and Desmond Hart at the end of Dune: Prophecy’s finale?
Desmond Hart and Valya’s confrontation leads to the former suffering brutal injuries and later managing to recover. However, in the end, a lonely Valya loses her power over sisterhood, heading to Arrakis.
It’s revealed that a third party was all along eyeing to wage war on Imperium and gain control. They leveraged Desmond Hart to make use of machines, instilling fears in Truthsayers and normal individuals, leading them to burn.
For them, Hart served as a perfect bio-weapon, given his Harkonnen and Atreides origins. Later, it’s discovered by Valya that Hart’s one eye wields the ability to modify and take away people’s lives.
She decides to blind his eye so that he can’t take any more lives but is interrupted by Tula, who reveals herself as Hart’s mother. She doesn’t let Valya hurt her son but instead helps her battle his son’s power.
Later, Valya forgives everything, allows her to reunite with Desmond, and heads to Arrakis to prepare Ynez to become the future empress. Although Hart is hurt, he eventually recovers and doesn’t get ready to forgive his mother. Holding his intentions above her mother’s love, he gets the Imperial soldiers to arrest her.
Why Francesca couldn’t kill Javicco in Dune: Prophecy’s finale?
Francesca’s love for Emperor Javicco was real, making her hesitant to complete Valya’s orders to kill him. Valya’s wicked scheme also included having Emperor Javicco killed. Therefore, she orders Francesca, his former lover, to do the job. Although the duo’s relationship had been orchestrated by sisterhood in the early years for Natalya’s marriage, Francesca had developed real feelings for him.
She ultimately reveals to Javicco about Valya’s plans of tasking her to kill him with a poisoned needle. After learning about the Sisterhood’s moves for trapping him all these years, he stabs himself with a knife, killing himself. A shocked Francesca then tries to save him but faces a brutal fate. Natalya goes on to kill her with her poisoned needle, ending the duo’s love story once and for all.
