He could have caused multiple car accidents.
There are several reasons police could pull a driver over for a traffic stop. Sadly, many people think evading these encounters is a good idea. This happened recently in Alabama, and the driver ended up crashing his car and causing several issues for himself and everyone around.
Evading a traffic stop is never a good idea
According to WSFA 12, police officers in Millbrook, Alabama, recently tried to conduct a traffic stop on a 2019 Dodge Charger. It’s unclear why they intended to pull over the car, but the report says the driver fled, prompting a high-speed police chase. Authorities later identified the driver as Nazheer F. Lewis, 23, from Montgomery. At some point during the chase, the driver pulled over but took off again when the officer tried to approach the car.
Naturally, the police continued trying to make the traffic stop. The report says there were times during the chase when the driver reached speeds of 100 miles per hour, which is beyond dangerous and caused risk for everyone. Eventually, the driver tried to take an exit on the interstate and ended up crashing into the barrier. Still, this didn’t stop the 23-year-old; he exited the vehicle and ran into a neighborhood.
Following the attempted traffic stop, police caught up to him on foot. They then took him to the Elmore County Jail, where he was held without bond. He’s facing several charges, including felony attempt to elude, unlawful first-degree marijuana possession, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, four counts of reckless endangerment, and a host of traffic violations.
