Jonathan Bennett Wants ‘Mean Girls’ Reunion in a Christmas Movie

Jonathan Bennett wants a “Mean Girls” reunion.

Bennett, along with his “Mean Girls” co-stars Lindsay Lohan and Lacey Chabert, is leading his own Christmas special this year and suggested the idea of the trio reuniting on a holiday film.

“I think what’s so special about the similarities between ‘Mean Girls’ and Christmas movies is they both have a through line — and that through line is that all these movies make people happy,” Bennett told People Magazine. “There’s a huge connection between the fan base of ‘Mean Girls’ and the fan base of Christmas movies. These are people that want to turn on a movie and feel happier and walk away feeling better. I think that’s what these movies do.”

Bennett is set to host a new Hallmark+ reality competition series titled “Finding Mr. Christmas,” created to determine his leading man replacement following his performances in many Hallmark features over the years. Among his holiday credits are “Season’s Greetings from Cherry Lane” and “Christmas on Cherry Lane.” Lohan is leading the Netflix romantic comedy “Our Little Secret” with Ian Harding. Chabert is at the helm of another Netflix release “Hot Frosty.”

Bennett added: “So to have Lindsay Lohan and Lacey Chabert and I all starring in different Christmas movies, I think is perfectly on brand and on target for what we like to do as actors and storytellers, which is bring joy to people, period. Now the question is, when do we get to combine it and do a movie for Christmas with Lacey Chabert, me and Lindsay Lohan? That’s what I’m looking for, because I think that would make so many people happy. Let’s do it.”

“Mean Girls” was released in 2004. Its 20th anniversary this past April came following the recent screen adaptation of the Broadway musical based on the original film.
