Manchester United need attacking reinforcements following a limp season in front of goal. Only five teams in the division have scored fewer goals than United this season, with Ruben Amorim’s side having fallen short in the attacking department.

It’s no surprise to see Premier League-proven quality forwards being linked to United ahead of the summer transfer window, and Wolves’ Matheus Cunha is currently at the top of the list. It’s claimed key terms could be agreed in the next month, with a price tag of £62.5million having been mooted.

But with United feeling the pinch of PSR regulations, the three-time European champions might have to get creative with their offer for Cunha. One of the ways of doing that would be to include players who are seemingly surplus to requirements at Old Trafford, in the bid to lower Wolves’ asking price.

Express Sport look at three Manchester United players who could be involved in a transfer deal for Matheus Cunha.

Harry Maguire

It’s difficult to properly know where Harry Maguire stands at United, such has been the volatility of his time with the club. The last-minute saviour during the recent Lyon comeback, the Englishman has certainly popped up with big moments in a United shirt, but being able to play as an emergency striker probably won’t be enough to keep him in Amorim’s long-term plans. With one year left on his current deal, Maguire could be a player the 20-time champions look to incorporate in a deal this summer.

Luke Shaw

Another player whose United career has been plagued by the ‘what if’ question. For Luke Shaw, his shortcomings have been more injury-focused, with the left-back having managed just three Premier League appearances all season. While he’s among the league’s best on his day, the demands of playing domestic and European football could end up being too much for Shaw, who has – unfortunately – proven himself as an unreliable option.

Antony

If Antony has his way, he’ll likely be on the first plane back to Spain in the summer following his so far successful loan spell with Real Betis. In 17 matches with the La Liga outfit, the winger has notched up nine goal and assist contributions – over half the amount he managed in 96 matches as a United player. But with fears that Betis won’t be able to afford Antony on a permanent deal, United could look to use him as leverage in a deal to bring his compatriot to the club instead.
