One of the men who helped broker the Rangers takeover talks believes the club should embrace the chance to make a fresh start in the summer.
Andy Mason, a Scottish property and finance expert based in Dubai, was a key figure in making the initial introduction to prospective American investors.
The club are locked in talks with the investment arm of the San Francisco 49ers, with the US consortium seeking to gain 51 per cent of shares and a controlling stake at Ibrox.
With Rangers chief executive Patrick Stewart set to speak at a Q&A session with supporters on Wednesday night, it is expected that he will provide some kind of update on the proposed takeover.
A former season-ticket holder at Ibrox, Mason feels the club have a huge opportunity to start afresh with serious financial backing – and says he would be open to a role in the rebuild.
Stressing the need for a major overhaul behind the scenes, he also insists that what happens off the pitch will be just as important as the recruitment of a new manager and new players.

Finance expert Andy Mason insists it’s an exciting time to be a Rangers fan at the moment
Speaking exclusively to Mail Sport, Mason said: ‘My role in all of this was really to reach out and help make the initial introduction a few months ago.
‘It’s a hugely exciting time to be a Rangers fan right now and, like everyone else, I’m keen to see what the future looks like as and when the deal goes through.
‘The expertise that the 49ers could bring to the table could be game-changing. From a business perspective, to be able to tap into that is gold dust.
‘I think you will probably see a major shake-up behind the scenes at Rangers over the coming months.’
Rangers have been advertising for a new chief commercial officer. Sean Jefferson has filled the position on a temporary basis, following the departure of Karim Virani last December.
Several other key positions behind the scenes will need to be filled over the coming months, such as a director or football or sporting director, as well as a head of recruitment.
Nils Koppen currently holds the position of technical director after he moved up from head of recruitment, but it is widely expected that he could leave the club when the takeover is completed.
Mason has built a wealth of contacts during his time in the Middle East and has extensive commercial experience in Scotland, the US and beyond.
Asked if he would be open to taking a role with his boyhood club, he said: ‘Yeah, of course I would be.
‘Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy doing what I do here in Dubai. I have a good life out here and enjoy what I do.
‘It’s not just a case of jumping at it because it’s Rangers. It’s a case of feeling like I could go in there and make a genuine difference on the business side of things.
‘When it comes to things like dealing with sponsors and unlocking new revenue streams, that’s where I feel like I could bring something to the table.
‘The club have a huge opportunity to start afresh in the summer. For me, I think they should be looking outside the box.
‘It’s common in football to see a lot of people float around from club to club in these executive type of positions.
‘I think it would be refreshing and ultimately beneficial if the club looked beyond that. Getting things right off the pitch is of equal importance as to what happens on the pitch.
‘When the takeover is completed, I envisage they will probably have a major shake-up at the back-of-house.
‘If the chance came along to work with the club and move things forward, to answer your question, of course I would be interested.’
