Netflix has confirmed that Heartstopper will conclude with a feature film, wrapping up the acclaimed LGBTQ+ coming-of-age story with a final installment based on Alice Oseman’s upcoming sixth graphic novel volume.
The announcement was made Tuesday via Netflix’s official X account: “Heartstopper will return, bigger than ever… A Heartstopper movie, our final chapter based on Alice Oseman’s upcoming volume six, is coming!!!”
The film will reunite series stars Kit Connor and Joe Locke, who return as Nick and Charlie, and also serve as executive producers on the feature. Heartstopper creator Alice Oseman has written a screenplay, based on her upcoming Heartstopper: Volume 6, with Still Alice director Wash Westmoreland attached to helm. Production will begin this summer.
According to Netflix’s Tudum, the film will follow the couple as they confront the challenges of a long-distance relationship—Nick preparing for university, and Charlie gaining independence at school. Supporting characters will also continue their journeys into young adulthood.
The film will wrap the hit franchise that debuted in 2022, and ran for three seasons.
