Awakening Release Date Delayed for Video Game

Dune: Awakening is an MMORPG set in the beloved universe created by author Frank Herbert. Originally slated for release in May, Funcom has announced it is delaying the game so it can “stick the landing.”

How long is Dune: Awakening delayed?

In a statement, Funcom announced Dune: Awakening will now launch on June 10. Players that grab the Deluxe or Ultimate Edition will get five days of early access starting on June 5. The decision to postpone its release is due to feedback the developer has collected from its Closed Beta tests.

“As such, we will be moving the release date of Dune: Awakening to June 10th, with head start launching on June 5th,” says Funcom in its press release. “This is not a decision we take lightly, we know everyone is very excited to get playing, but these three extra weeks will give us the time needed to make improvements that will lead to a better gameplay experience from day one.”

“Dune: Awakening is a beast of a game,” Funcom continues. “This is multiplayer survival on a massive scale, and we’re making gameplay and technical strides not seen in the genre before. We want to make sure we stick the landing.”

Although Dune: Awakening is now delayed, Funcom’s plans post-launch remain the same. In a recent video with the game’s Creative Director Joel Bylos, he confirmed it will expand the MMORPG with free updates that feature new content, features, and enhancements. Additionally, there will be “optional DLC” that can be obtained through the Season Pass or a la carte.

This new June 10 release date for Dune: Awakening is just for the PC version. Console versions are slated to come to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, but a launch date has yet to be revealed. Players wondering if their PC can run the MMORPG can download the Character Creator and Benchmark Mode to see if it will run.
