Harris to make surprise appearance on 'Saturday Night Live'

Vice President Harris is set to make a surprise appearance on an episode of “Saturday Night Live” with just three days to go before Election Day, the Associated Press (AP) reported, citing three people familiar with the Democratic nominee’s plans.

Harris was in Charlotte, N.C., and Georgia earlier on Saturday, and was slated to head to Detroit.

This will be the final episode of SNL before Election Day. Comedian John Mulaney is hosting the SNL episode, with singer Chappell Roan performing as the musical guest. The episode airs at 11:30 p.m. EST on NBC.

In recent weeks, Harris has been campaigning in battleground states, looking to turn out voters ahead of the contentious election.

SNL executive producer Lorne Michael previously said neither Harris nor her rival, former President Trump, would appear on the comedy sketch show this election cycle.

“You can’t bring the actual people who are running on because of election laws and the equal time provisions,” he told The Hollywood Reporter in September. “You can’t have the main candidates without having all the candidates, and there are lots of minor candidates that are only on the ballot in, like, three states and that becomes really complicated.”

Both Trump and his former rival, ex-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, were on SNL in 2015. Former President Obama also appeared on the show in 2007.

The Hill has reached out to Harris’s campaign.
