With the festive action rolling onto Friday night, we have a pair of Premier League battles on the cards.
As Arsenal desperately look to make up some ground in this season’s title chase, Brighton will also welcome Brentford to the Amex for what could prove to be a frantic affair.
With plenty of eye-catching betting markets available throughout Friday night, we have taken a look at two of the most lucrative Premier League markets.
19:30 Brighton vs Brentford
While Brighton might have come flying out of the traps following Fabian Hurzeler’s arrival over the summer, Friday’s hosts are seeking some recent stability. Suffering a collapse away at West Ham last weekend as they eventually had to settle for a 1-1 stalemate in east London, the former St. Pauli boss has seen his squad fail to win any of their previous five consecutive Premier League appearances. Coming under real scrutiny earlier in the month as they fell to a 3-1 drumming at home against arch-rivals Crystal Palace, the Seagulls have seen their European ambitions take a major dent. Opening Christmas Day clinging onto their spot in the top-half of the Premier League table, Hurzeler’s side have also failed to find much fluidity on home soil. Crashing out of the EFL Cup on October 30th following an action-packed 3-2 loss against Liverpool, Brighton have recorded just a single domestic victory at the Amex since the start of October.
Putting in a downbeat display in west London last weekend as they suffered a 2-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest, Brentford are in the midst of a real struggle. Watching their own EFL Cup adventure come to an end earlier in the month as they slumped to a 3-1 drumming away at Newcastle, Friday’s hosts have lost each of their previous three appearances across all competitions by an aggregate score of 7-2. Likewise, opening December with another 3-1 loss against Aston Villa, Thomas Frank’s side have lost four of their last five showdowns against Premier League opposition. Almost sat in top-flight limbo, Brentford have also gained an unwanted reputation for their glaring issues away from the Gtech. In fact, the Bees have put just a single Premier League point on the board so far this season. It should also be noted, Frank’s men have shipped 16 goals in their first eight top-flight battles outside of west London.

20:15 Arsenal vs Ipswich
Putting in a rampant performance last weekend as they stormed their way to a 5-1 romp away at Crystal Palace, Arsenal will be seeking a repeat display here. Signing off November with an action-packed 5-2 victory away at local rivals West Ham, Mikel Arteta’s men know the importance of making up some ground in the Premier League title chase. Although the Gunners might be unable to call upon attacking talisman Bukayo Saka on Friday night, they will be excited by their recent success in the final third. Including a 3-0 win against French giants Monaco earlier in the month, Arsenal have notched 27 goals across all competitions since returning from November’s fortnight interval. Likewise, not suffering a single competitive defeat at the Emirates since the middle of April, it is no surprise that the Gunners are pencilled in as a landslide contender this weekend. Despite opening Christmas Day sat six points adrift of runaway leaders Liverpool, Arteta’s squad will be smelling a golden opportunity here.
While Ipswich might have snatched a last-gasp 2-1 victory away at fellow strugglers Wolves earlier in the month, Kieran McKenna’s side came crashing back down to earth last weekend. Slumping to a woeful 4-0 drumming at home against Newcastle, Friday’s guests couldn’t have asked for a tougher challenge here. Although the Blues might have made their iconic Premier League return this season, the former Manchester United coach knows that he has a real battle on his hands. Getting December underway with a 1-0 defeat against Crystal Palace, Ipswich find themselves sat in the relegation zone and tipped as a leading bottom-three contender. Losing four of their last five Premier League appearances. Shockingly crashing out of the EFL Cup back in August after suffering penalties heartbreak at the hands of League Two outfit AFC Wimbledon, McKenna’s side have drastically struggled to find any kind of stability. Likewise, Ipswich have recorded just a sole clean sheet across any competition so far this season.
