Hyundai is gearing up to launch the much-anticipated Creta EV in India next month. As part of the final preparations, the electric SUV was recently spied in Pune undergoing homologation testing by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). This marks a significant step forward as Hyundai expands its electric vehicle portfolio in the Indian market.

The upcoming Creta EV will compete with rivals like Tata Curvv EV, MG Windsor EV, upcoming Maruti eVX, and Mahindra BE.05. Based on recent spy shots, the Creta EV closely mirrors its ICE counterpart in terms of design and features, while incorporating electric-specific updates to distinguish itself. Latest spy shots are credited to automotive enthusiast Mihir Patel.

Key Highlights

From earlier spy shots, we know 2025 Creta EV interiors will retain much of the familiar layout of the ICE Creta but with a few notable changes. A new circular 3-spoke steering wheel replaces the flat-bottom design of the petrol and diesel models. Additionally, the seats feature exclusive “CRETA electric” badging, hinting at its unique identity. While the test mule’s central console remains a work in progress, it showcases physical buttons carried over from the ICE variant, ensuring practicality.

The electric SUV will sport premium features like dual 10.25-inch screens for the infotainment and instrument console, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, front ventilated seats, and an electric parking brake with auto-hold. The gear selector is likely to be a stalk-mounted unit, similar to the Ioniq 5, while a rotary dial will handle traction control mode selection.

Feature-Packed Equipment List

Borrowing extensively from the ICE version, the Creta EV will include features such as leatherette upholstery, an 8-way power-adjustable driver seat, wireless smartphone charging, cruise control, keyless entry, and rear AC vents with USB charging ports. Safety will be a strong focus, with features like six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, rear parking sensors and cameras, and a comprehensive ADAS suite.

Performance and Range

While Hyundai has not officially confirmed the specifications, reports suggest the Creta EV will come equipped with a 45-kWh battery pack, delivering an estimated range of 450 km on a single charge. The real-world range is expected to be around 350 km, thanks to an advanced regenerative braking system. The electric motor is likely to produce 138 hp and 255 Nm of torque, ensuring a dynamic driving experience superior to the ICE Creta.

With its combination of cutting-edge features, competitive range, and the brand legacy of the Creta, the EV version is poised to be a strong contender in the electric SUV segment. Set to debut next month, the Creta EV is expected to further solidify Hyundai’s position in India’s rapidly growing EV market.
