Netflix has released a new batch of The Old Guard 2 photos for the long-awaited sequel to hit action fantasy movie. It is currently scheduled to start streaming on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.
“Andy and her team of immortal warriors return to protect humanity from a formidable new enemy who threatens their existence,” reads the official synopsis. “Fans will recall that The Old Guard ended on an unresolved note. After Booker (Schoenaerts) betrays the group, he gets exiled for a century — only to find the long-lost Quynh lurking in his apartment. What does she want? Only one thing’s for certain — the action will be bigger and bolder than ever, and the film will take you to places you’ve never seen before.”
Who is in The Old Guard 2 photos?
The Old Guard 2 photos teased the return of Oscar winner Charlize Theron, who will be reprising her role as Andy. In the photos, Theron’s character can be seen with KiKi Layne as Nile, Marwan Kenzari as Joe, Luca Marinelli as Nicky, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Copley, and new cast member Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians, The Gentlemen). The ensemble cast will also include Veronica Ngo as Quynh, Matthias Schoenaerts as Booker, and Uma Thurman (Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill).
In a recent interview with Tudum, Theron teased what fans can expect from the sequel’s newest characters, as the action sequences become bigger than the previous installment.
“We’re going to meet some brand-new characters,” she revealed. “Quyhn is back and her story continues, and we’re all excited to have Uma Thurman and Henry Golding join us as two key new players in the Old Guard universe. Andy and her warriors are back with a renewed sense of purpose. The stakes are even higher now that Andy is mortal and can die — but that certainly won’t keep her out of the action.”
The sequel is directed by Victoria Mahoney from a screenplay written by Greg Rucka and Sarah L. Walker, based on Rucka and artist Leandro Fernandez’s comic book of the same name. It is produced by original director Gina Prince-Bythewood, Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger, along with Marc Evans & Denver and Delilah’s Charlize Theron, Beth Kono, and A.J. Dix.
