Mikey Madison Passes on Star Wars Role in Shawn Levy Movie

UPDATE: A report from Variety notes that Madison was approached and offered a role in the untitled Star Wars movie. However, their report says that conversations have “since ended,” and that Madison has officially passed on the role.

Original Story: Mikey Madison is rumored to have been offered a role in Shawn Levy’s forthcoming Star Wars movie.

Madison recently won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in 2024’s Anora, which was directed by Sean Baker. Prior to that, she also appeared in films such as 2019’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, 2022’s Scream, and more.

What do we know about the Mikey Madison Star Wars rumor?

Per Jeff Sneider’s The InSneider, Madison is rumored to have been offered a “key role” in Levy’s Star Wars movie, which will star Ryan Gosling.

Sneider reports, “Talks are still early, and the reason I can’t say for certain that Madison is doing Levy’s Star Wars movie is because she’s simultaneously entertaining an offer for Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil movie at Sony, which is set to star Austin Abrams. I don’t know if those two movies conflict and she’ll be forced to choose one or the other, but something tells me she’ll take Lucasfilm up on its offer. After all, the chance to be in a Star Wars movie is a rare opportunity coveted by many actors.”

Sneider is also reporting that “Levy is currently casting the lead role, which is a 15-year-old boy, as well as the boy’s mother, plus two villains.”

Plot details for Levy’s Star Wars movie remain under wraps at this time. He has been developing the project since 2022, while Jonathan Tropper has been working on the script for the past year.

Levy recently directed 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine for Marvel Studios. His filmography further includes 2003’s Cheaper by the Dozen, 2006’s Night at the Museum, 2011’s Real Steel, 2021’s Free Guy, 2022’s The Adam Project, and more.

A release date for the still-untitled Star Wars movie has not yet been announced by Lucasfilm.
