Marvel Studios released a brief teaser clip from The Fantastic Four: First Steps ahead of its July 25, 2025, premiere. The footage showcases Johnny Storm in a lighthearted dinner scene, includes a nod to classic Human Torch comic art, and hints at early family dynamics within Marvel’s First Family.

In the scene, Johnny says, “You’re late,” to Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby) and Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal). Sue responds, “What do you mean?” to which Johnny replies, “What do you mean what do I mean? You’re late for dinner.” The cereal box in front of him features his superhero alter ego, the Human Torch, using an image from Jack Kirby’s pin-up art in Fantastic Four #3.

It also teases a major development in Sue Storm’s personal storyline. After Johnny Storm tells Sue and Reed they’re late, Sue replies, “Yes, we are,” in a tone that suggests she’s hiding something.
This exchange has led fans to speculate about her pregnancy, a theory confirmed during CinemaCon 2025. Marvel indicated that Sue is expecting her and Reed’s son, Franklin Richards. In Marvel Comics, Franklin is one of the most powerful characters, capable of reality warping, teleportation, and immortality.
The setting reflects a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world. Director Matt Shakman described Johnny as “really smart,” adding, “He’s on that spaceship for a reason,” and emphasized his heroism despite humorous deflection.
