What happens in the Murderbot trailer?
The video introduces Skarsgård as a security robot who goes rogue when he becomes fed up with watching humanity’s stupid antics. It also highlights some of the show’s action-packed sequences involving Murderbot as he tries to protect the humans who enlisted him to accompany them for a dangerous mission.
Murderbot is written, directed, and produced by Oscar-nominated duo Chris and Paul Weitz based on Martha Wells’ best-selling, Hugo and Nebula Award winning book series The Murderbot Diaries. The cast also includes Noma Dumezweni, David Dastmalchian, Sabrina Wu, Akshay Khanna, Tattiawna Jones and Tamara Podemski. It is executive produced by Andrew Miano for Depth of Field, David S. Goyer, and Phantom Four’s Keith Levine, with Wells serving as a consulting producer. It is a production by Paramount Television Studios.
“The series is about a self-hacking security construct who is horrified by human emotion yet drawn to its vulnerable clients,” reads the official logline. “Played by Skarsgård, Murderbot must hide its free will and complete a dangerous assignment when all it really wants is to be left alone to watch futuristic soap operas and figure out its place in the universe.”
