Tom Hiddleston recently shared his thoughts on returning as Loki in Avengers: Doomsday. The actor last appeared as the God of Mischief in Loki Season 2, which aired in October 2023. Marvel Studios confirmed Hiddleston’s role in Doomsday in the cast reveal livestream for the movie.

Tom Hiddleston was present at the 2025 Olivier Awards, where he spoke to journalist Max Balegde about reprising the role of Loki in Avengers: Doomsday (via The Direct).
The actor appeared joyful about returning and said, “Very, very excited. It’s really remarkable, actually, that I can talk about it because, mostly, I’m in a position of knowing and not being able to say anything.”
Hiddleston was later asked about how difficult it is to keep the spoilers away from fans, and he said, “It’s strange. You have to be very disciplined about carrying this secret around.” The Night Manager star then described playing the role of Loki as “an extraordinary chapter of my life.” Furthermore, he conveyed that his journey as Loki is “not over yet.”
At the end of Loki Season 2, Hiddleston’s character fulfilled his glorious purpose and became the new guardian of the multiverse. After Season 2 concluded in November 2023, Hiddleston appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and teased his retirement from playing Loki. This left many fans sad as they were worried about Hiddleston’s future as Loki in MCU.
Talking about the final moments of Season 2 where Loki is sitting on the throne and protecting the timelines, the actor said, “It all comes full circle. It’s the conclusion to Seasons One and Two, and it’s also the conclusion to six films and 12 episodes, and 14 years of my life. 14 years. I was 29 when I was cast, I’m 42 now. It’s been a journey.”
However, Hiddleston’s name was included in Avengers: Doomsday cast. Other names featured alongside him include Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Channing Tatum, Patrick Stewart, and many more.
