With The White Lotus recently wrapping up its third installment, showrunner Mike White has shed light on where Season 4 might be set. HBO’s dark comedy series revolves around the misadventures of affluent individuals who visit high-end resorts for vacation. However, as each season progresses, the dark secrets and inclinations of the featured characters come to light. With the location being a significant part of each White Lotus edition, Mike White has given an insight into where the next installment could take place.
Mike White on where The White Lotus Season 4 will be set
In a recent discussion, show creator Mike White noted that The White Lotus Season 4 could be set against a backdrop that does not feature the ocean.
Talking about the show’s next destination, White said, “For the fourth season, I want to get a little bit out of the crashing waves of rocks vernacular, but there’s always more room for more murders at the White Lotus hotels.” (via Deadline)
If Mike White’s comments about where The White Lotus Season 4 will be set are true, this would be the first time that a luxury resort will be featured in the series without the oceanic element. So far, the show has almost exclusively showcased properties from the Four Seasons chain. The debut chapter opened in Hawaii, with its follow-up edition taking viewers to Italy. Meanwhile, Season 3 took place in Thailand and also included filming in hotels not associated with Four Seasons.
In February 2025, HBO drama chief Francesca Orsi stated that while they haven’t finalized a location for White Lotus Season 4, it will likely be a European country. “We’re going on some locations scouting in the next couple of weeks, so we’ll know soon. I can’t really say where we’re going to land but chances are somewhere in Europe,” she said.
