Recently released set photos of the Lanterns series have finally provided fans with a glimpse at Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart. While DC Studios has confirmed that the show has kick-started its filming stage, the comic book juggernauts have otherwise decided to keep details regarding its production a mystery. As such, the said images featuring Pierre come as a surprise for awaiting fans, especially due to the absence of the superhero’s iconic green suit as well as his power ring.
Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart fights without his Green Lantern suit in new set photos
The latest Lanterns update has two set photos of the upcoming series, showcasing Aaron Pierre in a battle-weary state.
The Lanterns set photos shared by @DCFilmNews interestingly highlight Pierre in a grey outfit, reminiscent of medical scrubs, instead of his superhero costume. The actor is also without his Green Lantern ring and instead sports a pistol in what seems to be a firefighting sequence.

This representation of John Stewart aligns with what has been described of the Lanterns series so far. James Gunn has previously noted that the show will have a “very grounded, very believable, and very real” tone and will see Kyle Chandler’s Hal Jordan team up with Pierre’s character to solve a terrestrial-bound mystery.
Moreover, the comic book origins of John Stewart have portrayed the character as a marine before he acquired his powers, which further explains Pierre’s look in the aforementioned Lanterns set photos.
Aside from Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre, the forthcoming Green Lantern series also includes the likes of Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, Ulrich Thomsen, Nicole Ari Parker, Sherman Augustus, and Jason Ritter in pivotal roles.
Additionally, a recent report confirmed that Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner, who will make his DC debut with 2025’s Superman movie, will also feature in Lanterns. However, the show has yet to receive an official release schedule from HBO.
