Keanu Reeves wants to make John Wick 5; however, he’s unsure if his “knees can do it.”
Reeves first played the titular hitman in 2014’s John Wick, which was directed by Chad Stahelski. He reprised the role in three subsequent sequels: 2017’s John Wick: Chapter 2, 2019’s John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum, and 2023’s John Wick: Chapter 4.
While Reeves’ character seemingly died at the end of John Wick: Chapter 4, there’s been much chatter about whether or not the franchise will continue with a fifth film.
Speaking with CBS News, via Variety, Reeves commented on whether or not he’d be willing to return for a potential John Wick 5.
What did Keanu Reeves say about John Wick 5?
“You can never say never,” Reeves said. “My knees right now are saying ‘I can’t do another John Wick.‘ So my heart does but I don’t know if my knees can do it.”
Reeves has made similar comments before. He told Entertainment Weekly in March 2023, “I guess I’m going to have to lean on never say never. I mean, I wouldn’t do a John Wick film without Chad Stahelski. We’d have to see what that looked like. For me, it feels really right that John Wick finds peace.”
While fans will have to wait to see if John Wick 5 with Reeves truly does happen, it has been confirmed that Reeves’ character will appear in the upcoming spin-off movie, From the World of John Wick: Ballerina. Directed by Len Wiseman, Ballerina stars Ana de Armas, Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Norman Reedus, Ian McShane, and the late Lance Reddick in his final on-screen appearance. From the World of John Wick: Ballerina will be released in United States theaters on June 6, 2025.
There was also a prequel television series — The Continental: From the World of John Wick — that premiered on Peacock in 2023 that Reeves did not appear in.
