Destiny USA has been temporarily closed following a security concern, Syracuse police confirmed this morning.
Authorities are investigating a potential threat to the mall, with law enforcement agencies, including the Syracuse Police Department, involved in the probe.
The closure is being taken “out of an abundance of caution,” police said.
Customers were evacuated shortly before 10:30 am when the mall shut down and by 11 am, all driving entrances to the mall were blocked by New York State Police. At this stage, no further details have been provided regarding the nature of the threat, as per Syracuse.com.
“The safety and security of visitors, employees, and tenants remain our highest priority,” said Syracuse Police, quoted by LocalSYR.com.
“Updates regarding the situation and the reopening of the mall will be provided as they become available.”
Syracuse police are continuing their investigation, however, no additional information has been released.
The mall remains closed for the time being.
